Charging an EV in Richmond without a driveway

Richmond was one of the first councils in the UK to offer footway channels borough-wide, launching its scheme in July 2025.

How it works

A flush channel cut across the pavement holds your cable while you charge, so there's no trip hazard. You use your own home charger and electricity tariff.

On-street charging

Richmond has one of the densest lamp-column networks around – 1,152 chargepoints after adding 210 in a single year.

Check Richmond Council's website for eligibility and how to apply.
