- Ask about 12V battery replacements. Repeated replacements can point to an underlying ICCU or electrical problem.
- Get a battery health report. The main battery itself has a strong durability record.
- Check the software is up to date.
Known issues
- ICCU failures stopping the 12V battery charging, which can cause loss of drive power. Covered by recall.

Is a used Hyundai Ioniq 5 a good buy?
The Ioniq 5 is spacious and comfortable, and its 800-volt system gives it some of the fastest charging of any used EV.
The ICCU recall
Its weak spot is the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which keeps the 12V battery charged. If it fails, the car can lose drive power. Hyundai has issued several recall phases, so even if one was done, a later one may still apply. Ask a Hyundai dealer to check by VIN.
The good news
The main battery has proven durable, and recall work is free.
