What to check

  • Check the ICCU recall has been done. On many 2022–2024 cars, the Integrated Charging Control Unit can stop charging the 12V battery, causing loss of power. Confirm with Kia by VIN.
  • Ask about 12V battery replacements. Several replacements can suggest an underlying fault.
  • Check the Kia service history to keep the 7-year warranty valid.
  • Get a battery health report.

Known issues

  • ICCU failures on many 2022–2024 cars, covered by recall.
  • 12V battery drain leaving the car unable to start.

Pros

  • Very fast charging
  • Long 7-year warranty
  • Good to drive
  • Durable main battery

Cons

  • ICCU recall to check
  • 12V battery issues on some cars

Is a used Kia EV6 a good buy?

The EV6 shares its platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, including 800-volt ultra-fast charging, but adds Kia's longer 7-year warranty.

The ICCU recall

Like the Ioniq 5, many 2022–2024 EV6s were recalled for the Integrated Charging Control Unit, which can stop charging the 12V battery. Check the recall is complete by VIN with a Kia dealer.

Protect the warranty

Kia dealers say the 7-year warranty depends on a full Kia service history.
